Developing Professionals

Helping each team member find their career sweet spot

I have successfully built and grown high-performing cross-functional teams because I start with each individual team member. I actively listen to their stories; how and why they got into their current role, what they’re looking to accomplish, their values, what they’ve learned they are and aren’t good at, do and don’t like doing, and more. This enables alignment and understanding so that we can work together to develop a plan to enable a satisfying career at any stage and company.

Teams are stronger when expectations are clear to everyone.

I have lead numerous workshops with psychological safety at the center, to uncover expectations by individual, role, level, and department. This knowledge is leveraged to inform team norms, professional development plans, and most important companywide Job Level Frameworks and functional competency matrixes.

I have promoted 4 direct reports, 1 into a first-time people manager role and contributed to the promotion of 6 individuals, from cross-functional peers to in-direct reports. I have also coached designers, product managers, and engineers helping them find the right next role.

Do you answer Yes to any of the following?

  • Feeling stagnant in your current role, level, department, or industry?
  • Does the idea of coming up with a professional development plan make you uncomfortable?
  • Would you prefer to navigate your professional career the same way you navigated school?
    • Where someone else was in charge of the curriculum and daily agenda?
  • Are you now responsible for the success, retention, and development of others but don’t know where to start?

I can help

Through a dedicated workshop or regular 1on1s I will help you learn:

  • Where and why you have certain expectations in regards to your career
  • Which professional activities give or take away your energy: Energy Drivers and Drains
  • How to tell your professional story at different levels: from the high level teaser to the full-length feature
  • Techniques to bring back to your teams and managers in order to align on what a satisfying career looks like now and in the future.

Testimonials

Kelly’s been one of the strongest managers I’ve had in my career, and she clearly cares deeply about her team and continually growing in her own management practice. I’ve learned a lot from her as a team member, but also as a new manager myself, she’s continued to be a very helpful mentor. I’ve found myself reflecting on her style and her abilities and what I want to carry into my own management style.

Katherine Olvera – Senior UX Design Manager

Kelly is a strong and caring manager, mentor, and leader. While at EverQuote, she supported my growth, taught me new skills, and advocated for design across the organization. She inspired me to challenge myself in my work and tackle problems I found interesting.

Carolina Rago – Lead Product Designer

I continue to be grateful for my time working with Kelly at Wayfair. She brought clarity to my work in a way that made everything feel more intentional and focused. Her background gave me access to guidance I wouldn’t have had otherwise, and I’ve grown so much thanks to my time on her team.

She has also been a constant presence after we worked together. Kelly is someone I can always reach out to for perspective and support. On top of that, she’s just someone I genuinely trust. Working with her raised the bar for what I look for in a leader and collaborator.”
